The Mainland T.T.
Tourist Trophy Motorcycle Racing.
Britain’s largest Mainland Mountain Circuit,
Eppynt Mountain, from 1948 to 1953 inc. |
Throughout
the 1990s, 3 people, Lynn Isaac, Noel
Knight & Bryan Jones, have researched
the Mainland TT Motorcycle racing which took
place exclusively for a glorious 6 years in
the Brecon Beacons at an altitude of circa
1500ft
above sea level at what was by far at 5.2 miles
per lap, mainland Britain’s largest
mountain circuit. The purpose of our combined
research
was initially to collate all data plus anecdotal
tales from all who had been at all involved
to have them available to those concerned
in future
from Builth Wells Motor Club Archives. Discoveries
plus collated matter however warrants that
this be made known to all interested in Motorcycle
Sport.

The 1937
International Six Days Trial was held at Llandrindod
Wells, we have
pictures of Pont ar Gothi stage it has the entries
pictured & Germany entered 79 Military Riders
in leathers, those of the Army had Field grey leather
riding suits, plus the Storm Trooper entry had their
leathers in Brown, Gestapo/SS Riders had black leather
uniforms an additional support team of 60 personnel
came as back-up this is supported in text plus images.
I will later to add the 1949 plus 1950 plus 1954
ISDT events plus pictures & possibly the 1938
ISDT all held from Llandrindod Wells this is being
assembled
in conjunction with the Archives here plus at National
Cycle Museum Llandrindod Wells with the aid of Curator
David Higman.

The best time to come
to senegal is from November to July-August. Its the dry
season. Expect 25 in the coast and 30 inland. The are nice
cool breezes near the coast. But in the rainy season its
greener an lusher, only it rains an hour a day, there are
a few more bugs and its a bit hotter and humid. In the dry
season all the pistes are dry and there is a lot of driving
through sandy tracks and some hard surfaced tracks. 99%
of the intinerary is offroad, through savannah. Every day
we pass quite a few villages and tend to stop in them to
have a rest or a chat to the locals. In the rainy season
these tracks are slightly more muddy after the rain and
dry out after an hour. Here is a link to a web page made

Flying here. The best
bet is Iberia. You can do London-Madrid-Dakar on Sundays
or London-Madrid-Las Palmas-Dakar on a Monday, Wednesday
or Friday. The Las Palmas bit is a 40 minute stop over in
which some times you do not even have to get out of the
plane. Its a couple of hours from London to Madrid and about
4 1/2 Hours on the Madrid-Dakar leg. A Madrid-Dakar air
fair is about 350 Pounds. and if the London-Madrid air fair
is expensive you can get a GO or an Easyjet flight much
cheaper. The price is 1200 pounds per person if you can
get a group of 3 going. 1100 for a group of 4, and 1050
for a group of 5. This does NOT include air fair or personal
insurrance. If you are on your own we will mach you up with
other clients wishing to ride at that particular time, expect
diferent nationalities. If you want somebody to come along
and does not do bikes they can ride the support vehicle.
this will be in the region of 700 Pounds.
