The May 2001 ACU Magazine
In the latest issue of the ACU Magazine Geoff Wilson (ACU Chief Executive) tries to explains why the 2003 ISDE was cancelled. He blames everyone but the ACU and criticises various web sites for telling their versions.
Well I was on the ACU Financial Committee for the 2003 ISDE (Geoff wasn't), and I was at the meeting (Geoff wasn't) at which Mr Brian Bonny, the ACU Financial Director, answered a direct question (by me) - Will the ACU Finance the event if all else fails. His answer was that whilst he didn't want the ACU to lose money on the event - "the 2003 ISDE is such a major event that I am not only prepared to catch a cold but am prepared to catch a dose of the flu" - which he translated as the ACU would fully finance the event if all else failed. Absolutely no limit was mentioned, and that was the case until a meeting in September 2000 when Mr Bonny, without any prior warning, issued a £100k maximum.
I'm now finished with the ACU and organising any ACU sanction events, it's not worth the effort.

ACU - F&M ban relaxed
A meeting of the ACU Executive, representatives of ACU Local Centres and AMCA, BSMA and YMSA, agreed on 25 April to a strictly managed relaxation of the ban which has been applied to off-road motorcycle sport over the last two months. The ban in Infected Areas (IAs) will remain. In At Risk Areas (ARAs) and Provisionally Free Area (PFAs) off-road motorcycle sport will be able to be run in accordance with strict controls which will be applied by the Local Centres and other organisations in ways which will meet local and regional requirements.
